[KAGOSHIMA] FUGETSUDO Satsumadori Sable (10 / 20 pieces)
Fugetsudo's Satsumadori Sablés have been beloved by many as a traditional baked confection of Kagoshima since their creation in 1964.
Their roots trace back to the era when Lord Shimazu Nariakira and Saigō Takamori, who achieved the Meiji Restoration, were active.
During the Bakumatsu period, Lord Shimazu Nariakira, the 11th feudal lord of Satsuma Domain who dedicated himself to developing the people and technology of Satsuma, created the precursor to the sablé, the “Kanzume Mochi,” as a military ration called Hyōrō Menpō. This fortified the Satsuma samurai heading into battle.
It could be said that Japanese baked sweets began in Satsuma.
Fugetsudo's sablé cookies, beloved as Kagoshima's representative baked confectionery in both name and substance, are delicious and gentle on the body.
On May 10, 2008, at the 25th National Confectionery Exposition held in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, the “Satsumadori Sablé” received the highest honor, the Honorary President's Award (Culture Division).
Please choose this crisp, fragrant treat, made with milk from Kagoshima Prefecture Dairy Farmers' Cooperative and eggs from southern Kyushu, as a gift for someone special.
