Title
[KAGOSHIMA] FUGETSUDO Satsumadori Sable Mix (10 / 20 pieces) Since its creation in 1964 (Showa 39), Fugetsudo’s Satsumadori Sablé has been cherished by many as a traditional baked confection of Kagoshima. Its roots trace back to the era of Lord Shimazu Nariakira and Saigo Takamori, key figures in the Meiji Restoration. During the late Edo period, Lord Shimazu Nariakira, the 11th feudal lord of the Satsuma Domain, devoted himself to advancing the people and technology of Satsuma. At that time, he created a baked confection called kanjōbei (dry steamed bread), the prototype of the modern sablé, as a form of hyoroumenpou (provisions for soldiers). This nourishing food supported Satsuma warriors as they marched into battle. In this sense, it could be said that Japan’s history of baked sweets began in Satsuma. Loved for generations as both delicious and wholesome, Fugetsudo’s Sablé continues to represent the pride of Kagoshima. On May 10, 2008, at the 25th National Confectionery Exposition held in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, the Satsumadori Sablé received the Honorary President’s Award (Cultural Division)—the highest distinction of the event. Made with carefully selected milk from the Kagoshima Dairy Cooperative and fresh eggs from Southern Kyushu, these crisp and fragrant sablés make a perfect gift for someone special. Contents include: ・10 pieces: 4 kinds (4 plain, 2 purple sweet potato, 1 tea, and 1 salt) ・20 pieces : 4 kinds (8 plain, 4 purple sweet potato, 1 tea, and 1 salt)
