Wagashi is the fruit of the essence of Japanese culture, including the climate, lifestyle, taste, literature, and paintings of each era, all brought to fruition in one tangible form.
Toraya's confectionery production begins with the preparation of bean paste. There are various types, such as gozen-an (sweet bean paste), shiro-an (white bean paste), and ogura-an (sweet bean paste). The hardness and sugar content are also adjusted to suit each confectionery.
Small Yokan is available in a convenient portable size while maintaining the traditional taste.
You can enjoy five different flavors: Ogura Yokan "Night Plum", Brown Sugar Yokan "Omokage", Matcha Yokan "Shinryo", Honey Yokan "Honey", and Benicha Yokan "Black Tea".
■Night Plum
The azuki beans at the cut end resemble plum blossoms in the dark of night, hence the name. It is a representative of Toraya's ogura yokan.
■Omokage
The unique flavor of brown sugar may remind many people of the good old days. Toraya uses brown sugar produced in Iriomote Island, Okinawa.
■Shinryo (fresh green)
Matcha yokan (powdered green tea jelly) has a soothing subtle aroma and a deep green color. It is popular as a standard yokan.
■Honey
Canadian clover honey is used. Enjoy the rich flavor of honey and the refined sweetness of white bean paste.
■Black tea
We use black tea produced in Ishitobi, a mountainous area in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Ground tea leaves are mixed with white bean paste and kneaded. You can enjoy the sweet and savory aroma and rich flavor of the tea.
